Introducing Human Rights:
Grades 3-7
When introducing students to human rights, it’s important to explain that these are basic rules that protect everyone, helping ensure that all people are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect. You can start by explaining that human rights include things like the right to learn, the right to express your thoughts, and the right to be safe. Emphasize that these rights are for everyone, regardless of where they come from or who they are. By teaching students about human rights, you’re helping them understand how they can support others, stand up for fairness, and create a more inclusive and compassionate world.

We will continue to add activities and lesson plans that are designed to align with the social-emotional abilities of most elementary and middle school students.

Peace poles are a wonderful way to teach students about peace, unity, and global harmony. This lesson plan will guide students in understanding the significance of peace poles, including their history and the various languages of peace inscribed on them. Through discussions, creative activities, and possibly creating their own peace pole, students will explore the importance of spreading messages of peace in their communities and beyond. By the end of the lesson, learners will appreciate the role they can play in fostering peace in the world.
